After dropping out of a law degree, to become an assistant to many of London’s
leading photographers, Martin Beckett quickly found his own path and started to
attract commissions of his own.
Originally working mainly for magazines he soon found himself shooting film
star portraits and album covers too. His much awarded personal work in
landscape photography then led him to be offered commissions in the
advertising world, which caused him to travel the world shooting for blue chip
clients, as well as maintaining his art projects.
He has shot everyone from Sting to Tony Blair, and Pacido Domingo to Kirk
Douglas and has been commissioned by magazines such as Dazed and Confused
and the Independent on Saturday. His advertising commissions have included
Rolls Royce, Deutsche Bank, Cyprus Tourist Board, Volvo and many, many more.
His work has received many awards and has been exhibited worldwide. He also
appeared on television, notably in “A Digital Picture of Britain” for the BBC and
has been president of many associations for visual artists on a World, European
and UK scale.
